At the Kitchen Draw, we’ve always been committed to running fair and transparent competitions. As many of you know, our draws are strictly for those aged 18 and over.

To stay ahead of the curve and align with the Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators (which comes into full effect in May 2026), we’ve introduced a new, “privacy-first” way to verify your age.

We’ve partnered with OneID – a UK-based, FCA-regulated provider – to make this process as seamless as possible.

Why the change?

The new 2026 standards are designed to protect under-18s and ensure that prize draws operate with the highest levels of responsibility. We chose OneID because they allow us to meet these legal and ethical obligations without making the process frustrating or intrusive for you.

How it works: Digital Vouching

Think of OneID as a secure bridge. Instead of asking you to upload a photo of your passport or driving licence, OneID asks a provider who already knows you (like your bank or mobile network) to “vouch” for your age.

There are two simple ways this happens:

  1. The Mobile Route (The fastest way)

This is the default option and takes about 30 seconds:

  • The Check: You enter your mobile number and receive a 6-digit security code via text.
  • The Verification: OneID checks with your mobile network (like EE, O2, or Vodafone). Since you usually need to be 18 to hold a mobile contract, they simply confirm to us that you meet the age requirement.
  1. The Bank Route (a secure alternative)

If you are on a pay-as-you-go SIM or the mobile check doesn’t work, you can use your banking app instead:

  • The Check: You select your bank from a secure list and are redirected to your own banking app.
  • The Verification: You log in using your usual FaceID, fingerprint, or PIN. Your bank will ask for your permission to confirm your age. Once you tap “Approve,” we get the green light.

Your Privacy is Protected

The most important thing to know is that we never see your private data. OneID follows a “data minimisation” approach, meaning:

  • No Documents: You don’t need to find, scan, or upload your ID.
  • No Personal Details: We do not receive your date of birth, your bank balance, your account number, or your mobile details.
  • Just the Facts: All we receive is a simple “Yes” or “No” confirmation that you are over 18, along with a timestamp of the check.

One and Done

The best part is that you only have to do this once. Once you are verified, our system will remember you for all future entries.

You can complete your verification the next time you check out, or if you want to get it out of the way now, you can do so via your Account Dashboard.

OneID is a certified B Corp, meaning they meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. You can read more about their approach to data security on the OneID website.

Thank you for helping us keep our competitions safe, responsible, and fun for everyone.
